Beauty Royale Hair Hub
Beauty Royale began as a personal project and quickly grew into a passion project inspired by the women and girls in my family. The goal was to create a space where tutorials, videos, and resources on Black hair care could be organized and made easy to access. While there is an abundance of information online, it is often scattered and difficult to follow. Beauty Royale became my solution: a hub dedicated to protective styles, scalp care for hair growth, and step-by-step hairstyle guidance.

Challenge
Before building Beauty Royale Hair Hub, I had experimented with an early concept for a beauty salon and video game hybrid; it was a fun idea to flesh out. The landing page I created for that project didn’t meet my goals of learning to design with dynamic content or building something practical. The real challenge I wanted to solve was creating a clear, educational resource for people like my family members who wanted guidance on hair care without the confusion of digging through endless blogs and videos. I also learned more about best practices for page speeds, and going as far as redeveloping the site with a more lightweight theme to help loading times.

Solution
I designed Beauty Royale from the ground up, starting with wireframes and visuals in Figma. For development, I used WordPress as a content management system, Bootstrap for responsive design, Advanced Custom Fields for structured content, and custom post types to keep tutorials and resources organized. The design carries over a retro influence from my earlier salon-and-gaming idea, but with a cleaner, more functional layout. Every choice was made to keep tutorials easy to browse and content simple to maintain.
Outcome
The finished site is more professional, user-friendly, and informative than before. Tutorials are presented in a way that feels approachable while keeping the focus on education and clarity. The project not only gave me a deeper understanding of dynamic data in WordPress, but also helped me learn more about hair care itself through the process of researching and building the content.
My Role
I handled every part of this project: from research and design to development and deployment. It was also important to me to give credit where credit was due, so the videos, images, and resources are properly cited to its creators. Beauty Royale reflects both my technical skills and my ability to take an idea from concept to execution, while addressing a real need for better, more accessible resources. This project also allows me to improve my accessibility efforts, improve page speeds, and security practices as I explore adding more content, community comments, and user profile features in the future.
