Background
This demo was created to demonstrate the design, functionality, and features of a modern daycare website. The goal was to build a site that showcases how childcare centers can have an engaging, safe, and approachable online presence. It highlights parent-friendly navigation, program pages, scheduling integration, and a guided tour experience.
I handled every part of this project: from concept, design, and development to deploying the live demo. The project also allowed me to explore WordPress layouts, interactive guided tours, and accessibility-focused design, ensuring that the site is both visually appealing and user-friendly for families exploring childcare options.
Challenge
The main challenge was creating a site that feels like a real, professional daycare website while still being a demo. I needed to design pages and features that clients could envision for their own sites, including clear calls to action and program information. Another challenge was deciding the content to include in the daycare website. It helped to search for frequently asked questions in Facebook groups, as well as researching the content other daycares near me included in their website. I came across this helpful blog on What to Include in Your Childcare Website to get an idea of what to build. As I was creating the site, I had to make sure when using bright colors in a complementary way, they still maintained accessibility guidelines and meet WCAG standards.
